Kimberly Hinkie, LPC
Therapist | Anxiety, BPD, ADHD, Chronic Pain | DBT, CBT, Mindfulness-Based Therapy
Kimberly Hinkie is a former educator turned counselor whose passion for mental health was sparked by personal family experiences. After a loved one’s diagnosis led her to better understand the need for mental health support, she pursued her master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University.
Kimberly completed her internship at Baptist Behavioral Hospital and was soon offered a position as the lead therapist for children ages 6–12. She served in that role for four years before transitioning to private practice to offer more flexible and individualized care.
Her approach to counseling is integrative, drawing from:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)
Mindfulness and meditation
Psychoeducation and problem-solving
Play therapy
Narrative therapy
Coping skills development
Kimberly provides a calm, grounded presence that helps clients feel safe, seen, and supported. She fosters an environment where clients can explore their challenges and build new strategies for emotional regulation and personal growth.
Please note: Kimberly offers couples counseling on a limited basis and typically as a final step in cases where individual work has already occurred.
Outside the office:
Kimberly is a proud mom of two grown children—a son near Abilene, Texas, and a daughter living in Lumberton. Her greatest joy is spending time with her granddaughter, who always brings laughter and light into her day. Though she describes herself as introverted, she thrives in family settings and values deep connections with those around her. Kimberly’s clients often comment on her down-to-earth style, light-hearted sense of humor, and how easy it is to open up in session.
