Life can feel messy, overwhelming, and unpredictable. We all carry stories—some that empower us and others that weigh us down. Sometimes, it’s hard to know which ones to keep following.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate, Jay Jacobs believes that therapy is the space where we pause, reflect, and decide how we want the next chapter to go. He helps clients understand where they’ve been and discover the possibilities for where they’re headed.
Jay works with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, and identity exploration. He provides inclusive and affirming support to LGBTQ+ individuals, creating a safe environment to process relationships, spirituality, and the challenges of living authentically in a complex world.
Using cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI), mindfulness, and a narrative therapy lens, Jay empowers clients to rewrite the parts of their story that feel limiting. His style is warm, relatable, and research-informed—think pop culture references, metaphors, and main-character energy.
Jay's ideal clients are those yearning for change—even if they don’t know what that change looks like yet. He works especially well with individuals struggling with low self-worth, disconnection, or feeling emotionally stuck. He also integrates positive psychology, helping clients recognize strengths and build on what’s already working.
Jay sees clients both in-person at our Lumberton office and online. He understands how hectic life can be, and he strives to make therapy a comforting and accessible part of your routine.
