Life can feel overwhelming when you're carrying grief, navigating major life changes, struggling with anxiety, or simply trying to understand yourself more deeply. Sometimes the patterns that once helped you survive begin to leave you feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure of who you really are.
Shaelyn Whatley is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate who brings a warm, grounded, and authentic approach to therapy. She believes healing happens when people feel safe enough to explore their stories with curiosity, compassion, and honesty. Her goal is to help clients better understand themselves, build self-trust, and create a life that feels more meaningful, steady, and aligned with who they truly are.
Why Shaelyn Became a Therapist
Shaelyn has always been drawn to understanding people on a deeper level—not just what they're struggling with, but the relationships, experiences, losses, and survival strategies underneath the surface. She became a therapist because she is passionate about helping people feel less alone in their experiences and more connected to themselves.
Therapy Approach
Shaelyn's counseling style is collaborative, compassionate, and honest. She understands that every person has a unique story, and she believes therapy should honor that story while helping clients discover new possibilities for healing and growth.
Clients often describe Shaelyn as warm, relatable, easy to talk to, and nonjudgmental. She creates a space where clients feel both supported and gently challenged as they work toward greater self-awareness, healthier relationships, and lasting change.
Her work is informed by trauma-aware practices, human development, nervous system awareness, and a deep appreciation for how our experiences shape the way we move through the world.

A Special Interest in Grief Work
Shaelyn's passion for grief counseling comes from both personal and professional experience. She understands how deeply loss can impact a person's identity, relationships, and sense of safety in the world.
She believes grief is not something to "get over," but something we learn to carry differently over time. Her goal is to help clients find language for their experiences, honor what they've lost, and continue building meaning while carrying both love and loss together.
Beyond the Therapy Room
When she's not counseling, Shaelyn enjoys spending time with her son and the people she loves most. She finds joy in nature, fitness, reading, creative projects, and lifelong learning. She is especially interested in psychology, spirituality, human development, and understanding what helps people live more connected and authentic lives.
