Melanie Gawlik, LMFT
Therapist | Trauma Recovery | Relationships | Reclaim Your Story
"You are the author of your story—and the next chapter can begin today."
Sometimes life hands us experiences that leave us feeling disconnected from ourselves, uncertain of our worth, or stuck in patterns we never intended to repeat. Trauma, unhealthy relationships, family conflict, anxiety, and painful life experiences can make it difficult to recognize the strength and resilience that still exist within us.
Melanie Gawlik, LMFT, believes that healing begins when people reclaim ownership of their story. Her goal is to help clients move beyond simply surviving difficult experiences and begin creating a life that feels authentic, empowered, and meaningful.
Melanie earned her Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Our Lady of the Lake University and has spent more than six years helping individuals, couples, children, and teens navigate life's challenges. She has extensive experience supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault and is passionate about helping clients heal from trauma, rebuild self-worth, and strengthen their relationships.
Her counseling style is warm, collaborative, and creative. Melanie believes that clients are the experts on their own experiences and works alongside them to explore challenges, discover strengths, and identify new possibilities for growth. She creates a safe and affirming environment where clients can speak openly, process difficult experiences, and move forward at a pace that feels right for them.
Drawing from Narrative Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Collaborative Language Systems, Melanie helps clients understand the stories they have been carrying and determine which parts they want to keep, rewrite, or leave behind. She enjoys incorporating clients' interests—including storytelling, gaming, anime, creativity, and personal passions—into the therapeutic process to foster connection, trust, and meaningful growth.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Melanie also recognizes the powerful impact relationships have on mental health. Whether working with individuals, couples, or families, she helps clients improve communication, establish healthier boundaries, strengthen self-worth, and create more fulfilling connections with others.
