Counseling Intern | Anxiety, Trauma & Life Transitions
"Your story matters, and you don't have to carry it alone."
Life can be challenging, especially when anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship difficulties, or major life changes leave you feeling overwhelmed or uncertain about what comes next. Kayla Coleman believes that healing begins when people feel truly heard, understood, and accepted.
As a counseling intern at Lamar University, Kayla works with children, teens, and adults who are navigating emotional, behavioral, and relational challenges. She is passionate about creating a welcoming environment where clients feel comfortable being themselves and exploring their experiences without fear of judgment.
Kayla's counseling style is warm, supportive, and collaborative. She believes each person is the expert of their own life and works alongside clients to help them identify strengths, gain insight, and move toward meaningful change. Her person-centered approach allows clients to set the pace while receiving guidance and encouragement throughout the counseling process.
She often incorporates narrative techniques to help clients better understand their experiences, challenge unhelpful beliefs, and recognize the resilience and strengths that already exist within them. Kayla believes that while we cannot always change what has happened to us, we can choose how we move forward and what meaning we create from our experiences.
