"Understanding yourself is often the first step toward changing your life."
Sometimes the hardest questions aren't about what is happening in our lives—they're about understanding why it's happening in the first place.
Why do I keep repeating the same patterns?
Why do I feel disconnected from myself?
Why do relationships feel so difficult?
Why can't I seem to move forward?
Jon Anitsakis, LPC, specializes in helping individuals explore the deeper emotional and psychological patterns that shape their lives. He believes meaningful healing happens when people move beyond simply managing symptoms and begin understanding the experiences, beliefs, wounds, and survival strategies that brought them to where they are today.
Jon works with teens and adults struggling with emotional dysregulation, Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD), ADHD, depression, anxiety, self-harming behaviors, grief, identity concerns, existential struggles, and feelings of hopelessness or disconnection. He is particularly passionate about helping individuals who feel misunderstood, different, lost, or stuck in painful emotional cycles.
His counseling style is insightful, compassionate, and deeply curious. Rather than focusing solely on symptoms, Jon helps clients explore the motivations, fears, desires, relationships, and life experiences that influence their current struggles. He believes that when people understand the "why" behind their challenges, they are often better equipped to discover the "how" of moving forward.
Early in his counseling career, Jon worked with incarcerated individuals and people navigating substance use recovery. These experiences provided him with a unique understanding of trauma, grief, addiction, personality disorders, self-destructive behaviors, and the search for meaning during life's most difficult moments.
Jon also provides affirming and inclusive support for LGBTQIA+ individuals. He strives to create a therapeutic environment where clients feel safe exploring identity, relationships, self-expression, and personal growth without fear of judgment.
His approach is collaborative, thoughtful, and grounded in the belief that every person has a story worth understanding. Whether you're questioning your identity, struggling with intense emotions, navigating ADHD, or searching for a greater sense of purpose, Jon works alongside you to better understand yourself and create meaningful change.
