"You are not too much. You are not too broken. You are not behind. You are a whole story still being written."
Life can be complicated. Sometimes you're carrying anxiety, self-doubt, relationship struggles, past hurts, or unhealthy patterns that seem to keep showing up no matter how hard you try to move forward. Other times, you're simply trying to figure out who you are, where you're headed, and how to create a life that feels more authentic and fulfilling.
Jay Jacobs, LPC, believes that many of us spend years living by stories we didn't consciously choose—stories shaped by past experiences, relationships, expectations, trauma, survival strategies, and the messages we've received from others along the way. Therapy offers an opportunity to pause, examine those stories, keep what serves you, and rewrite the parts that no longer fit the life you want to create.
Jay works with teens and adults navigating anxiety, depression, self-worth challenges, relationship concerns, identity exploration, life transitions, emotional regulation difficulties, and personal growth. He is especially passionate about helping clients better understand themselves, break free from limiting patterns, and build healthier relationships with both themselves and others.
As an LGBTQ+ affirming therapist, Jay provides a safe, inclusive environment where clients can openly explore identity, relationships, spirituality, and the challenges of living authentically. His goal is to create a space where clients feel genuinely seen, understood, and accepted without judgment.
Jay also brings extensive experience working with individuals navigating substance use, addiction, and recovery. Through his work in addiction treatment, he has helped clients address not only addictive behaviors, but also the underlying struggles that often fuel them—including shame, trauma, self-worth challenges, relationship difficulties, and emotional pain. He understands that recovery is about more than abstaining from substances; it's about rebuilding trust in yourself, reconnecting with what matters most, and creating a life worth staying healthy for.
His counseling style is warm, direct, creative, and engaging. Clients often appreciate his ability to combine practical coping strategies with meaningful conversations that help them better understand themselves and the patterns that influence their lives. Therapy with Jay may include exploring past experiences, learning healthier ways to cope, strengthening communication skills, developing emotional awareness, and identifying the strengths that already exist within you.
Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Narrative Therapy, Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology, Jay tailors treatment to each client's unique needs and goals. While therapy can involve difficult conversations, Jay believes healing doesn't have to feel cold, clinical, or overwhelming. Growth happens when people feel safe enough to be honest, curious enough to explore, and supported enough to try something different.
